20–100 MHz HF Wideband Black Fiberglass Omni Antenna, Hex N-Male, KSANT-11463-A

The HF band is where a single receiver has to cover the whole shortwave range from a single mast, and the demand for one radiator that sweeps 20 to 100 MHz has never been higher. HF listening posts, wideband scanners and SDR sites all expect one antenna instead of three, because every extra antenna on an HF mast means a huge radiator, a big coil and a ground system. The solution lies in a single wideband fiberglass omni that trades narrowband peak gain for the whole HF span. We are proud to introduce the 20–100 MHz HF Wideband Black Fiberglass Omni Antenna, model KSANT-11463-A, a 600 mm linear-polarized radiator engineered for HF receiving, wideband scanning and shortwave monitoring.

This antenna represents a deliberate trade: coverage instead of gain. Its core advantage is the 20–100 MHz span in a single 600 mm radome of 32 mm diameter, finished in elegant black and terminated in an integrated hex N-male connector. The whole span is covered at 50 Ohm with VSWR under 2.2, measured gain runs from -1 to 1 dBi across the band, and the horizontal pattern is a full 360° with roundness held to ±1 dB. Power handling is 100 W, the element is DC grounded, and the build is rated for wind of 36.9 m/s across −45 °C to +85 °C. It is the practical choice where one slim mast has to cover the whole HF low band.

Technical Excellence: The Core Advantage

The antenna's performance rests on three pillars: a 5:1 HF span in one part, an unusually round horizontal pattern, and a controlled match across the band.

A 5:1 HF Span in One 600 mm Radome

The design covers 20 to 100 MHz, which is the whole low HF band from 20 MHz up through the standard shortwave broadcast range to the top of the HF band in a single part. That is the headline trade of a wideband HF antenna: instead of three resonant wires, three tuners and three ground systems, one 600 mm radome feeds the receiver. Measured efficiency rises from 18.8% at 20 MHz to about 35% on average across the band, and peak gain runs -1 to 1 dBi, which is the realistic figure for a broadband non-resonating HF radiator rather than a resonant dipole or a rhombic. It is built for listening and scanning, not for a high-power DX transmit path, and the datasheet says so plainly.

Roundness Held to ±1 dB

A wideband HF antenna usually gets away with a loose roundness tolerance, because the pattern changes as the wavelength shortens. This one is specified at ±1 dB, and the chamber measurements back it up: 0.65 dB at 80 MHz, 0.32 dB at 90 MHz and 0.17 dB at 100 MHz. That is a genuinely round pattern across the band, which matters when the signal can arrive from any azimuth and the receiver cannot rotate the mast to compensate. The vertical beamwidth is 40–100°, which is broad rather than narrow, matching the way HF signals arrive from any elevation angle.

VSWR Under 2.2 and 100 W Handling

The specified match is VSWR <2.2 across the span, and the stored trace marks 1.95 at 20 MHz and 1.35 at 100 MHz, with return loss of 9.9 dB and 13.3 dB at those two points. That is a controlled match across the whole sweep, with the worst point only at the lowest edge, which is exactly what a wideband SDR or scanner sees. Maximum power is 100 W, which covers low-power transmitters and broadband receivers with active front ends. The connector is an integrated hex N-male, the flat-hex body that a wrench grips instead of twisting the radome, and the element is DC grounded so static charge drains to the mast. The radome is 32 mm in diameter, 600 mm long, elegant black, and weighs 0.486 kg. Mechanical qualification is stated rather than assumed: a ≥200 N tensile test, a 1 m drop test, vibration from 10–55 Hz at 0.35 mm displacement and 50.0 m/s² over 30 sweep cycles, and voltage resistance of 1.5 kV insulation, 1.5 kV sheath and 0.5 kV insulation-to-sheath. The product is RoHS compliant.

Versatile Application Scenarios

The combination of a 20–100 MHz span, a round 360° pattern and a slim 600 mm radome makes this antenna useful wherever one mast has to listen across the low HF band.

HF Receiving and Shortwave Monitoring

Shortwave broadcast and utility monitoring: one feed covers the whole shortwave range from 20 MHz to 100 MHz, so the listener does not swap antennas per band.

HF listening posts and coastal stations: stations that monitor HF utility and maritime channels use one known radiator instead of a wire farm on the roof.

Wideband Scanning and SDR

SDR and wideband receivers: software-defined radios sweep the whole HF range at once, and this antenna delivers one feedline for the whole capture.

Spectrum monitoring and measurement: field teams use a single known wideband radiator for radiated testing and measurement across the low HF band.

Outdoor Fixed and Roof Installations

Street poles and light masts: the 0.486 kg weight and elegant black finish suit wall brackets, parapets and light poles where a wire antenna would look messy.

Remote and unattended sites: the −45 °C to +85 °C range and 36.9 m/s wind rating cover outdoor cabinets that have to survive weather without maintenance.

Conclusion: The Future of Wideband HF Listening

The 20–100 MHz HF Wideband Black Fiberglass Omni Antenna, KSANT-11463-A, is more than a passive component. It is the part that turns a multi-wire HF roof into a single feed. By covering 20–100 MHz at 50 Ohm with VSWR <2.2, holding roundness to ±1 dB across a full 360°, and delivering 100 W behind an integrated hex N-male connector on a 600 mm black radome, it gives integrators a clean mast for complex HF listening environments. Its measured gain of -1 to 1 dBi is the honest price of a 5:1 HF span, and the datasheet states it directly rather than dressing it up. The 0.486 kg weight, 36.9 m/s wind rating and −45 °C to +85 °C operating range make it deployable in the field. For any system that needs one antenna from 20 MHz to 100 MHz, this antenna is the practical choice.
